This afternoon, I was in Oshkosh prison, sitting in our meditation circle. The day’s topic: War in Ukraine. Collectively it’s on our minds and in our hearts.
On Monday, I had pastoral visits at Oshkosh Correctional. It's a space for residents of prison to be seen (really seen), listened to, and cared for; to talk about life and meditation; to deepen self-awareness and healing.
Yesterday, I had three (in-person!) pastoral visits at Oshkosh Correctional. These are spaces of deep listening and bearing witness, as well as reflecting the prisoner’s goodness and growth back to them.
On Monday, after 17 months, we volunteers were let back inside prison. The correctional officers were kind and helpful. The incarcerated people in our meditation group were joyful.
