I teach mindfulness to people from varied demographics. Still, there's a theme: a core wound of “not enough.”
Given our cultural messaging of do more, be more, achieve more, I don't think it's possible to apply too much self-compassion.
It's vital that we see (really see!) ourselves.
Marianne Williamson wrote,
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us... As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
Interesting: Our core wound is shame (we’re used to our darkness), but our deepest fear is that we’re “powerful beyond measure.” We have light! We have a (beautiful!) unique expression. We have an inner compass that’s wise, kind, and true.
We all need this reminder:
Trust yourself.
Step into your light.
You are amazing!
